HI!

HI!
Hi, I'm Ashleigh! Just call me Ash. I'm a frugal fashionista with a very relaxed dress code, so I am all about "real wear" #ootd's. Come see how you can dress chic on the cheap, and maybe hear a bit about my day-to-day life, my kids, Lou and Logo, also my cat Zoey and my dog Parker! Thanks for stopping by!

Mobile Comments

I'm having a really annoying glitch where if someone comments from a mobile device or I comments back on my mobile device the comments will not show up on the blog when you are on a regular tablet, pc, or laptop.I always comment back so if it seems like I haven't try logging in from your phone while I try to figure out this issue. Thank you!

INSPIRED

My daughter is going to be one of the "101" puppies in my high school alma mater's production of Disney's 101 Dalmatians  I'm very excited. I was in the drama club and starred in or worked on all of our productions when I attended high school. She takes after me sooooo much! And I promise, I'm not pushing her. I'm not a stage Mom ala Momma Rose in Gypsy!
Anyway when I saw this sweater online I knew I had to have it, and I knew exactly how I would style it. I knew I would wear it with my polka dot blouse from forever 21, my geometric collar necklace, boyfriend jeans and heels. My inspiration came from Jenny over at Crazy Style Love when she wore this outfit a few days ago. I was smitten.

It's not EXACTLY the same. I took the overall theme and worked with it. A graphic sweater. A pop of bold color. Jeans. Heels. Statement necklace. I added the belt because my sweater is just a tad bit big, and I did not wear matching socks. Only because I don't have any red socks. I wish I did. Her smurf socks are totally cute and fun. Fashion is about taking risks and having fun after all!
I actually bought my first pair of pointy toe heels back in December because Jenny wears them all the time with everything and it looks so very chic. I would never have bought these shoes before I got involved in fashion blogging. I absolutely love them!
I look soooo pale!
I didn't cuff my boyfriend jeans because I like the length they are with these shoes.
They lace up the back.....
I love my geometric necklace!

I also was really drawn to this sweater because it reminded me of this LOFT cardigan I found on polyvor that I can't seem to find anywhere now. It was the same print, white cardigan with black piping. This was way cheaper though!

New Changes

Trying to get photos everyday, have them edited, write a post...it takes a lot of work. It gets frustrating when I have an outfit and no photographer, or vice versa. Or when I have a million things to do and no time to stop for pics. So I decided to post outfits on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to give myself time to breathe and function. Tuesdays and Thursdays I may or may not post, but it would be a thrifting haul or a DIY or some sort of entertaining filler. And this way I can stay up-to-date on all of my favorite blogs on my Tuesdays and Thursdays "off!"
I really hate missing posts and having a huge back log on bloglovin and GFC. As much as I enjoy having my own blog, the whole reason I started one was from reading all of yours! I want to see Angela's shoes on Head To toe Chic, or read about Tara's latest strange beer or something about her cats on Penniless Socialite and see how Katie from Hems For Her styles her latest steals from Gwynnie Bee. If I don't see the latest post on how to look posh at Crazy Style Love ,or what trend Rachel is currently rocking, or even how Kacie can still look adorable when her tights are covered in her dog's fur, how can I be inspired? It comes from ya'll. So I'm going to be spending more virtual time with you. I hope you are okay with that! I love being a blogger but I adore reading blogs! Plus, you know, concentrating at work and spending time with my kids and paying attention to my Kitten and my cooking for my Husband and all that too. I'm just trying to find a balance.
How do you lovely ladies juggle your online life and your personal life? Leave tips and wisdom in the comments.
Thank you!
-Ashleigh

The Right Proportions

I have finally styled this voluminous top right! Remember the last two time I wore it? Once with my flared trousers, flats, and a blazer HERE and the other more recently with wide legged slacks and a cardigan HERE. The last time I wore it I mused about the proportions being off. I though adding a heel and some skinnies would make the outfit work. I was totally right! Take a look:

I think it works. I added (5 and a half inch!) gray heels, black skinnies, and a black and gray leopard print cardigan. I loved how the cobalt blue bubble necklace popped against it the last time so I wore it again.

I only stumbled once in my shoes. P.S. My boss deemed them too "stripper-y" for the office. Um...hello? I bought them in the "work attire" section of the store. Yes, they are tall. But I am SHORT!

I can't get over how long my legs look with the skinnies+heels!

Also, I have guns. JK I was fooling around for my Mom.

Outfit Summary:
Cardigan: Dots
Top: Body Central
Skinnies: Dots
Heels: Deb
Necklace: Catos
Bangle: Glitter
All of these stores are stores at the mall. Everything I am wearing in this is under $15. And I don't want to hear how mall clothes aren't quality. Take care of your clothes. Re-inforce hems if you love an item. some of these things are QUITE old!

Mermaid + A Thrifting Story

With the teal sequins and my wavy hair, I totally felt like a mermaid in this outfit. Except mermaids don't live in frigid Kentucky and take pictures of their outfits. In the snow. When it's 22 degrees out. Oh, and they also do not wear argyle tights, since they have fins. I know that ya'll will forgive my extreme hyperbole :)
I squint so hard in pictures...I really think it's time for new glasses.
See? My eyes are practically shut!
The outfit is basically a sweater skirt, sequin tank, 3/4 sleeve cardigan and argyle tights with flats.

So. The other day I was shopping Facebook Yard Sales and happened upon this Chanel bag. I checked it over, and it seemed to have all the hallmarks of a true Chanel bag, but no authenticity card, no dust bag, etc. It had the hologram inside (incredibly hard to fake or remove), but I wasn't sure. The hologram sold me though. Plus it was $25. The woman I bought it from had bought it from someone else and couldn't verify the authenticity. I decided to take a gamble and purchased it.
When I got the bag home I emptied out my old purse and started putting things in the new one. There's a little zipper compartment inside that's really small, but I thought I could fit my tic tacs and gum in there. Inside the zippered compartment was a receipt. It was the ORIGINAL SALES RECEIPT for the purse and it's original tags. From the CHANEL BOUTIQUE in Chicago. Score! The woman I bought it from had never even opened that zip because it was so small is my guess. I kind of feel like a cheater though. Like I should either give it back or give her more money. There's a reason you do not find real Chanel bags at yard sales and such. People do not get rid of them. The tags, sales receipt, and hologram all lead up to a genuine Chanel bag though. So should I give it back? Or give the seller some more cash? What would you do?

Featured Fashionista: London

My daughter is just about the cutest kid I know! And I know LOTS of kids, I have 15 nieces and nephews under the age of seven. They are all adorbs. Anyway, we had written this post back when no one read my blog, but I decided to re-post it. London is 7 years old and attends first grade. She is an "A" honor roll student and so well behaved that she is off the behavior chart. At her school GREEN means you were good all day, YELLOW means you had an incident, and RED means you were bad. London has been on green since her first day of kindergarten, so back in the fall they made up a new level: SILVER. She's the only Silver student at her school!

Ever since she was little she has been picking out her own clothes. She'll mix stripes with argyle or polka dots with unicorns, as long as they have the same colors in them. Here she is wearing a purple peplum top with big, graphic stars, distressed boyfriend jeans that we cuffed at the ankle, pink glittery flats, a suede purple fringed bag, pink beaded statement necklace and a pink rose in her hair.

I will add that she borrowed that necklace from me and then it broke :( but the purse is hers, a christmas present when she turned 5 or 6. She doesn't like "play" purses, she wants the real thing.

I love that she used pink and purple as her colors and showed her personality with her clothes. London is a pristine princess, she doesn't get dirty and likes everything to be pretty, sparkly, and shiny.
Mommy and London Lou!
Here's our little interview:
Me: I'm going to put you on the blog.
London: That's cool.
Me: What do you want my readers to know about your personal style?
London: I like sparkly shoes...and sparkly skirts. Everything sparkly! I don't like pants, I like dresses and skirts.
Me: Yes, I know. What's your favorite pattern?
London: I like stripes.
Me: I like polka dots.
London: That's cool.
*A message from London herself. She's typing now:
"If you like something, wear it!"

My Fashion Crush: Shy Girl Loud Voice

I've seen other bloggers write about bloggers who inspire them and I decided to post about someone who inspires me: Kacie Cone over at Shy Girl Loud Voice. Kace is a 19 year old aspiring singer/songwriter living in Portland and originally from Cali. She is one mega fashionista!

The thing I love about Kacie is that she knows her style. At age 19, I was wearing American Eagle skirts with Ugg boots just like everyone else. I didn't really have a style. None of my friends did either. We just bought what everyone else bought and wore it, without any thought or inspiration. Jeans and a slogan tee from whatever name-brand mall store.. Kacie gets dresses in outfits that reflect HER. What she loves. I really admire that she knows herself so well. I didn't discover my own personal style till 23 years old.
Her style is also ever-evolving as she does. She's a little bohemian, a little urban, a little bad a$$, and very artistic as well. All around just super cute! If she wants to wear a pleated green maxi skirt on a Tuesday to class at college, she will. A wide brimmed hat that looks like it belongs to a 1970s model? She wears it. Even if all her classmates show up in pajamas. She always looks comfortable, put together, and effortless. Whether I'm totally jealous over her amazing accessories:
Seriously. The Lita booties. The Cambridge satchel. Edgy and sophisticated.
Or wishing for her cool-college-coed wardrobe:
I always make sure I read her blog for a little inspiration getting dressed in the morning. She's an amazing girl with an eye for style and photography (seriously, check out her photos of Amelia, her new cat, and Maya, her dog.) She also doesn't mind walking around covered in animal hair from time to time. Kacie Cone is definitely a girl to watch! (You can follow her on twitter, bloglovin, youtube, instagram and pinterest.)

Day Brights (Green Pants Pt. II)

Saturday night was my night to go out, and Sunday was my errand day. Since my green pants had only been worn for a brief amount of time at the bar I decided to throw them on to go to the grocery store and do my laundry, etc.
I paired my green pants with a black tank, my cashmere leopard cardigan, a pink scarf and glittery pink flats. (I thought  they matched my scarf and they totally did not!)  I accessorized with owl earrings,  and my pave set amethyst bracelet.
AND this purse that is not just a purse!
It converts to a back pack! The strap goes all the way down both side through two buckles. Simply pull the strap down through the buckles to make a double strap and sling on your back, ready to go.
I often pin my scarf this way so that I don't have to keep re-wrapping it all day long. The pin keeps it in place, and IMHO looks cute as well. It's just a little daisy pin but it does a great job!
And a surprise underneath my scarf...my mustache necklace!
What do you think of my two different leopard print-two shades of pink-green pants double take?

Night Brights

Yay! You guys get to see me dressed up! Well, kind of. The neighborhood we moved to is super cute. The mainstreet has all the quaint cafe's and bars that all become dance clubs on Friday and Saturday nights. I decided since we live two seconds away from the "IT" scene that we should go out. I took my husband and my BFF/Sister-In-Law, Jessica with me. Here's the look:

Orange you glad I'm finally back?

So. I am finally back. I've been taking pics and unpacking and working and raising kidlets and I'm TIRED but super happy.

I wore this skirt outfit on the last day of school to my son's Christmas performance. It was very comfortable and I love the colors, but I may not ever wear it again! This floral skirt is apparently very polarizing. You either love it or hate it. My Mom and my Husband HATE this skirt. Husband says the floral skirt= Granny couch cover. DANG. You let me know if you love it or hate it. I love it. It's just a few flowers, people!
BTW these are the last pics taken at my old apartment. All future pics will be in My house or someplace outside if the weather cooperates!

Unblogged

Sometimes I don't have anyone available to take my blog pics and it can be VERY frustrating when I have something I love/really want to share. I then end up fiddling around with my camera at work trying to take my own pictures. These disasters do not usually end in a post. Since hubby is allowing me to use his tripod I can now actually take my own pics if no one is available! But for now enjoy these not-too-great never-before-seen photos!

FIRST OUTFIT: I am wearing my gray slacks, pink sequin tank, and navy blue cardigan that has this lovely lace back. I really wanted to get a picture of the lace back because I think it's super pretty! Also, the gray slacks are hemmed for heels, but I had just moved and couldn't find any so I wore my summer wedge cork heel sandals with black socks. Yes I did. Oh, and they are NIKE socks. LOL! I am also wearing my vintage earrings and a brooch.
SECOND OUTFIT: I actually really love this! My chambray shirt and my leopard pants with my sweater boots and my old and beloved blue beaded ribbon tie necklace. Super duper comfortable. I love this combo! Plus, I feel this could be a day to night transition if I changed up the accessories. Maybe with hair up, black heels, roll the sleeves and add a big gold bangle plus some chandelier earrings?
So, these are my blog pics. That didn't make the blog. That are now on the blog. Enjoy!

Few and Far between

Hey guys! I'm not back quite yet-I had planned to be, but lots of things are going on. Christmas and New Years and we MOVED and are still unpacking. Life is hectic, and I do not have a reliable photographer right now. I was hoping Santa would get me a new camera for Xmas but he didn't :( But my Birthday is right around the corner!
So, I recently bought a pair of red tights, a pair of cobalt blue tights, teal skinnies, and faux leather black and brown hobo bag, and a TON of costume jewelry. You will be seeing these here sometime next week. Sorry I don't have pictures!
Question: How would you style teal skinnies?
Let me know in the comments. I will wear the best (or easiest) suggestion!

p.s. i'm going to Nashville February 8th-10th. I will be busting out my Lorados and boot scootin' and taking pics to share with you. Thanks for stopping by and your support. It means a lot to me that anyone actually cares about what my outfits look like when I mingle thrifting and fashion. Ya'll are the best. I mean it!

Sentimental Sparkle

My bad-a$$ studded shirt is back! Last seen in this post, it was kind of biker-chic when paired with my black bondage booties and boyfriend jeans. Today I decided to style my studded black shirt in a soft, feminine way. I paired my it with a sweater skirt, magenta tights, and a glittery cardigan with my leopard print flats. Gold scroll earrings, a glittering amethyst-set bracelet, and two necklaces completed my girly look.

I quite love this! Sparkly shirt, sparkly cardi, sparkly jewelry! I also am toting this HUGE burnt orange leather purse. I got it for $27 at Burlington and I love it. It's leather and by R + L. I tend to gravitate towards plain, square totes or satchels in neutral colors. The burnt orange color, huge bowler shape, and gold hardware just spoke to me, so I bought it. Mainly for the tassels though. Who doesn't love tassels?

You can't see my necklaces very clearly but one is an amethyst, which is my birthstone, and the other is a portrait. It's a picture of my Husband at two years old. His Aunt took the pictures and they had the necklace specially made. I was looking for nail clippers at his other Aunt's house and came across it. OMGSQUEE! Too cute! So she let me have it. Roger at two was so cute, and my son looks just like his Daddy. I'll treasure it forever, and it won't be in the back of my drawer! It's the sentimental element to my sparkly outfit.
