HI!

HI!
Hi, I'm Ashleigh! Just call me Ash. I'm a frugal fashionista with a very relaxed dress code, so I am all about "real wear" #ootd's. Come see how you can dress chic on the cheap, and maybe hear a bit about my day-to-day life, my kids, Lou and Logo, also my cat Zoey and my dog Parker! Thanks for stopping by!

Merry Christmas!

It's Christmastime and I am also in the midst of packing and moving. So, no more posts until after the First of January. Thank you so much for reading and I will be back in the New Year! Love, Ash

Off the Chain

Clearly, because I have on this thick color blocked neon chain necklace LOL.
Sometimes this blogging thing is frustrating. The point is to share my ideas of fashion with the world...but the world isn't watching or reading. I hope that the small amount of readers and commenters I do have appreciate and take with them the idea that you can look good, pretty, and put together, for very little money. There are 1000s of thrift stores, not to mention consignment boutiques, flea markets, swaps, yard sales and even Facebook yard sales! You can look good at any price point. Fashion is what you buy, style is what you do with your purchase.

Friday at work means jeans. Jeans mean you have to look nicer on top otherwise you do not look professional. I wore my jeans with this gray 3/4 blazer and a black blouse that has a huge gray rose on it. It's actually an asymmetrical blouse but you can't tell here. To add color and some fun I added this heavy, multi-chain necklace that is two-toned neon orange and neon pink with gold. It is quite heavy but I enjoy the pop it gives to my otherwise dark ensemble.

Blogger Item Du Jour

Today I am wearing my first bubble necklace! I bought it forever ago and it is just SO big I was really unsure how to style it. Because my chest is kind of big, it didn't lay flat on me like it should. It looked good with plain shirts because they allowed it to lay the way it is supposed to, but I didn't wear a crew neck t shirt today. I decided to try it with this ruffled halter, and I feel like it worked! It laid the right way, and the colors totally popped together! Plus, I feel like the bubble necklace really goes with my huge fly cocktail ring! It's hard to see but it's in the pic next to my head.
However, there were some minuses to today's outfit. Me - my signature red lips = blah and washed out. Must remember to touch up before photos! Also, I wore this ruffled tank with slacks to work before, with a blazer here. I thought it was a good look and it just needed heels, but scanning the pictures I realized what would fix it. A heel would be a great addition, but I really need to play with the proportions of the entire ensemble. In this post I am wearing the cardigan I have on now pics with a tee and jeggings. Since the ruffled top is layered and kind of billowy I need something in the range of a cigarette pant or skinny jeans to make it look correct. The billowy top with the wide-leg slacks just makes me look wide! And, of course, a heel wouldn't hurt at all. Photographic evidence has swayed me. I wonder what the boss'll say if I roll up in jeggings to work? :)
P.S. Isn't my bun super high and huge today? Dirty hair + teasing comb + dry shampoo + seal salt spray + bun form = bun perfection. It sounds like a lot of work but it takes maybe three minutes!

Meet My Baby

MAN! I hate being sick. I'm finally back full throttle, taking outfit pics and all that. I was down for a good two weeks, and had all those b-day parties the first week! In this post I am wearing my gray slacks, gray heeled boots, water color floral shirt, and navy Tommy Hilfiger cardigan. My Mom kind of looked me up and down and said I don't match. Pinstriped slacks, floraL top, and argyle cardigan? Hellz to the yeah, Mama. Hellz to the yeah.

Sweater Leggings: The Most Perfect Item of Clothing EVER

I wore this outfit to work and ice skating at Fountain Square in Cincinnati. The Ice skating was SO much fun! I am a klutz, but when I roller skate, ride a bike or ice skate I transform magically into someone graceful and lovely. My sister, niece, daughter and my niece's other cousin all spent much of their time on their butts
on the ice, but I didn't! I flew around the ice like a butterfly!

A Fabulous Blue Frock + Leopard & Tweed!

I bought this cobalt Blue fit and flare dress for an interview. Since I had to work the day of the interview, I had to style it two ways. First, Wear-To-Work Way, and second, Give-Me-A-Job-Please way. I simply swapped my leopard cardigan for this houndstooth tweed jacket, and switched my black riding boots for suede pointy toe heels. I kept the necklace, dress, tights, and my signature red lips. Check it out:
I think this dress is fab, and it was a steal @ $17.99. I splurged and bought a new dress for the interview, since I figured I could also wear it during the up coming Holidays! I love it and I will be wearing it again soon. I like how bright the blue is, and it seems to go with everything.

My Mom didn't like this dress. What's not to like about a classic blue fit and flare dress? She was also sick and didn't take many good pics, but she told me to make sure that I mentioned that it's her Christmas tree I'm posing with. Now I will also mention that I made almost all of her ornaments MYSELF. Different crafts from previous years and this year we made salt-dough ornaments, which was fun, and cheap and now all 5 of her kids, their spouses, and all 17 grand children have their own, personalized ornament. YOUR WELCOME MOM. Grumpy old lady. P.S. It's a fun craft to do with your kiddos. There's a recipe below!

I take my blog pictures at night

I mean, I took THESE at night, unfortunately. I ran around all day and didn't end up stopping till dusk. Then the camera messed up so roger had to take pics on his I-phone. RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
I was going for a girly look here. A pink and white striped scarf, a blush colored cardi, light pink lips, etc. I think I nailed it. I also tied a gold sequined ribbon in my hair as a headband. I added large oblong earrings
and an elephant cocktail ring. My Mother adores elephants, so I buy them quite often and they remind me of her. I'm definitely my Mama's girl!

So. See that striped tank? You've seen it before on the Leopard and Stripes post. I have a confession to make. It's NOT a tank top. It is a PAJAMA tank top! I have fooled you twice now into believing I wear real clothes in public when I'm actually rocking jammie's, Or at least jammie tops. Don't hate me.

Over all, a comfy look for running around town buying X-mas gifts!

What's in my (new) bag?

I've seen the whole what's-in-my-bag on other blogger's pages and thought, I should do that! My purse carries many things, mostly lip balm.
It's a NEW leather satchel. I love this bag! It's a classic shape with clean lines, but trendy with the rose-gold hardware and "greige" color. I don't think I captured the spectacular-ness with my crappy camera but still. Did I mention it was originally $96.00 and I got it for $30 on sale? Yep, I did. Happy me!

It looks just beige with gold hardware in this pic :( but it's NOT. Believe me!
Now, What's in my bag?

From bottom left to upper right:
1. My planner, a flier for Nature's Trading Post at the Museum, and a note my daughter wrote her Mema that I keep forgetting to deliver for her.
2. Two one-dollar bills and four dollars in quarters
3. My keys
4. Cough drops
5. Almay skin perfecting concealer in shade 02. I'm pale!
6. Maybelline BB cream.
7. A tiny set of tweezers and a gazillion bobby pins
8. Teasing brush
9. Nail file
10. CG eye enhancer trio in night sky/ purple dawn/ angel dust and an eye shadow brush
11. ION trial size container. I fill it up with Organix Moroccan Argan Oil so I can make sure my hair is never with out that magic stuff no matter where I go!
12. Mary Kay firming eye cream. I have wrinkles from squinting.
13. My Coach wristlet that I use as a wallet.
14.Palladio Rice Paper squares. They are oil-absorbing sheets that have rice powder on them so you stay matte as you blot. I LOVE them. There's an additional pack in my wallet!
15. Wet n Wild Mega Plump water proof mascara. I cry very easily so I always wear water proof!
16. Vaseline Lip therapy.
17, 18, and 19. EOS lip balm in summer fruit, tangerine, and strawberry. I have every flavor and keep one every where. Two at work. One in the car. One in my desk at home. I am a chap stick addict!
20. Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in shade 01. A dark, vampiric red that looks so sexy for a night out.
21. Maybelline Lipstick in Champagne Shimmer. I layer this over bolder lipsticks to tone them down.
22. Maybelline Lipstick in Pink Sand. I bought this for last New Year's eve and kept buying. My Mother, Sister in Law, and Aunt also all adore this shade.

That's what's in my bag! A lot of make up, a planner and journal, a love note from my kiddo. And you even got a glimpse of my chap stick addiction.
What's in YOUR bag?

Day to Night

Today's post is a two-fer! I recently purchased this awesome, silky, hi-low hem black shirt with gold stud detailing. I was dying to wear it but haven't had any "events" in the past few weeks. I was invited for drinks immediately after my shift Friday and decided I could style it into my work look and change up the accessories to go out after. For my work look I wore the studded shirt with a mint colored cardigan, boyfriend jeans tucked into riding boots, peacock earrings, a gold link necklace, a dome cocktail ring and a bronze leopard print bangle.

Blog Lazy

Last week I was in a funk for like, four days. I woke up, worked, picked the kids up, and we fell asleep at 5 pm EVERYDAY. No dinner, no tv, no playing outside. Winter has turned us into Polar Bears! Then my niece and nephews came over one night, so we couldn't hibernate, and we snapped out of our collective funk just in time for the warm weather to hit for the kid's b-days. I finally took some blog pics on Thursday last week. Great outfits Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and no pictorial evidence. Boooooo.
I wore khakis. On days I wear khakis I feel soooooo washed out but I get so damn tired of black pants everyday of the week! Maybe I'll dye my khakis red or something, and spice up my wardrobe. I also had none clean and no time to do laundry at my aunt's. There's no washer and dryer hookup at the apartment. I am so glad we are moving to our new house!

I wore my khakis, my thrifted polka dot blouse, cream colored flats, and my sweater coat. This blog post marks the first appearance of my Melie Bianco tote. I scored this beauty at the Gap Outlet. The Gap Outlet has items from Gap, Banana Republic, Althea, Piperlime, and Old Navy. This was a return because a TINY, and I mean tiny, piece of the black trim had pulled up on the handle. It was a $100 bag! It was $30 at the Gap Outlet. I bought it and fixed that tiny piece of trim with some fabric glue. You can't even tell! I love this purse, it is huge and holds my entire life. I fell for it because of the classic shape, beautiful neutral colors, and the lock closure. I couldn't figure out how to get the little lock open at first! Then it finally clicked (haha...clicked) and I took it home, where it had served me faithfully since.

Birthday Week!

I shan't be posting until the end of the week because it's Birthday week over here at my house! My son turned 5 yesterday, my daughter is 7 today, my Hubby is 27 tomorrow, my cousin is 9 tomorrow, my other cousin is 11 Wednesday, my Grandpa is 65 on the 12th and my favorite niece is 7 the 13th. It's a flurry or wrapping paper, gifts, and cake here! Since the last two are technically next week, I will be posting again probably Thursday.

I'll leave you with a shot of my babies:

Happy Birthday London and Logan!
