This is what I was wearing in the car crash
This post should be to introduce you to my DIY'd army vest. I was so excited when I finally go the vest exactly how I wanted it. It started off as an army jacket remember? Then I removed the sleeves and took it in a bit on the sides. However, I didn't like the long length; it went down to my butt! FINALLY I chopped it at my waist and viola: my very own, DIY'd army vest ($10 total.) Then I was going to meet my cousin Jamie for lunch/photo session and WHAM! I am knocked out and wake up in my wrecked car. TOTALED.
Everything happened so quickly, which is so cliche but so true. I was wearing my seatbelt, but the car smashed into the retaining wall on the highway on the driver's side. My face smashed into the driver's side window and I got a black eye and sore jaw, and the impact broke two of my ribs. The lovely necklace in the photos cut my neck pretty good too. I am A-Ok now (just sore in the ribs still) and majorly pissed about my car.
BUT you just can't keep a fashion obsessed girl down. I made Jamie take my pictures after they released me from the hospital. All the nurses complimented me on my perfectly in place make-up. Primer, ladies. Primer is key.
I was SO sore. I couldn't lift my purse or hardly do anything, but this outfit was still cute and needed documentation. Plus, I was on painkillers and I was determined to see my day's plans through to the end. (Before Jamie took me to the hospital we went and had our Mexican food because 1. I was starving and 2. I was convinced I was just bruised. The insurance adjuster called and lectured me into going to the hospital. I didn't go from the scene of the crash because I crashed in Ohio, but I live in KY and if I had to go, I wanted to go at home.)
P.S. Jamie doesn't know how to use a DSLR.
And a bonus:
I couldn't pick up my bag, I was so sore. So I stretched myself and heard my ribs pop. End of photo shoot.
So do you think I'm nuts? I kinda do too. In my own defense, I had a shitty day, and I used the thing I love (fashion/my blog) to cheer me up.

oh my goodness, I love your necklace. You look amazing, love. xo
I do too. It recently broke. I was super disappointed.
I really like the vest, you did a great job transforming it from the jacket(that I didn't like)..Love the necklace ,just not with the casual wear..And despite your bad day you still looked great!
Wow! You are a superstar. I am sorry you got so banged up, but glad you are on the mend!
OH MY GOSH!! I read the title of this post and freaked out! Car crashes are so scary! Someone rear ended stoplight two weeks ago -- it hardly did anything to my car... just some scratches and ruined paint -- but I still cried for like 10 minutes afterwards! I am so glad you are okay! You're such a trooper for still taking your pictures. Can't believe that vest was only $10 for you as a DIY. Such a steal!!

these are after pictures?! you look great! (:
I know. I cringe whenever I'm in the car and another car gets near me now!
Ha thanks Teresa! The nurses kept complementing my makeup!
Oh thank you Simona! I love that bag. It gets so heave though. It can carry so much!
Thank you! You can't see the hem though. It's ragged lol.
I think I was stunned. Plus, they gave me vicodin lol.
Ha thank you Katie! I honestly think I just wanted to get my mind off of the crash. When I saw the car after I was like "How did I walk away from THAT?" and blogging is always a good distraction.
Lucky you that necklace broke :(
I am ok! The ribs barely twinge at all anymore. Mostly only when I am laying down trying to get up.
Thanks Yaudy! I feel loads better. My ribs are almost healed up. I just have to do some physical therapy to get my range of motion back. I can't put my arms straight back still.
Oh my god, Im so glad you are okay! That is such a scary thought. I really adore that vest, beautiful combination with burgundy.

Thank you Lauren!
Wow!! I really hope you've been recovering from the crash. It's so scary to be involved in anything like that, and it's always a huge pain to deal with the insurance and stuff, but then we all need to be thankful it wasn't worse.
On a more positive note, I really do love the outfit, and can't tell you had such a rough day by the way the photos turned out. Great colour combo!

Thanks sandy! I'm much better now, and my ribs are barely even hurting at this point!
That is why I had to document it! The only thing I would change is to change out my boyfriend jeans. They're a little too baggy at this point!
how scary! i'm so glad you're ok. and only you would have perfect makeup after that!
I've had a rib injury before (only bruised) and it hurt! Laughing hurt, sneezing hurt like hell!
I LOVE that you still managed to take pictures, thats amazing! I've been in two car crashes now and they really are so scary but I am not as dedicated as you after my crashes I went home and spent the rest of the day crying in bed lol
I cried like the next day. I think I was in shock!
It really covered my black eye too! I didn't see it till the next day lol.
Sneezing hurts the worse!
Love it all! That bag is my fave.

Thank you!
I had did a full face of make up because I'd been watching a beauty tutorial on YouTube. I used all the primers and such. I think they really work! Plus, I only broke my ribs. Not really an external injury (thank goodness!)
....! I just happened to wander by, and I was so excited to see how you used your crafting skills to make the jacket into the perfect fit and style for you (I love making things as well! :) ).... and then I read about your accident. !!! *You* are determined, to be able to still take photos the day of (I would be petrified), and it's good to know that you are doing well. :)
What a blog post!

Thank you so much! I actually want to go back to the army/navy surplus store and get another jacket that fits a bit better so I can actually have it as a jacket. And pants. I NEED camo pants! Maybe with a jacket that starts out fitting better it will only take a few tweaks to make it stunning.
Thank you!
Thank you so much! I liked the pretty burgundy against the camo too.
Glad to see that you are mobile. Take care of yourself!
