My Maxi
I didn't hop on the maxi band wagon till just last summer. Why? I'm 5'2" and curvy. Too much fabric, too much emphasis on the wrong things...or so I thought. This is why I love fashion blogs1 Back when I was just reading blogs, I saw Katie of Hems For Her rock quite a few maxi dresses! If she was brave enough to try and looked smashing in the end, perhaps I could too!
I styled it with simple metallic flats, half up hair, and statement earrings the I regretfully do not have a close up of.
It was a very bright day but those are my silver flats.
This girl needs a tan! But here it is, proof you can be curvy, short, and wear the comfiest clothing around town, the maxi dress!

I think you look amazing - I love this maxi! I need a black one now. :)
I wanted a basic one and this one from Old Navy was perfect!
Thanks Adrianna! I'll have to check that out!
I thought so too after I bought it. Thanks Kacie!
Thanks ladies! I truly love it now.

The dress looks great on you...I'm the same height as you and tend to shy away from them too...but a lot of the reason is finding one the proper length can be a pain!
Thank you Michele! I love it. It won't be the last time it's on the blog.
I cut about 4 inches off the bottom of it. There's still anough to wear with heels!
You look fab in this maxi Ashleigh! Maxis are my go-to for Summer!

I always thought i was too short for maxi dresses but they definitely make me look taller. I love this black maxi on you!

Incredibly wonderful maxi dress! I too do not own many maxi dresses as I am only 5'2" as well! Love the length on this one! Just perfect with the cute flats! Awesome look for summer!

Exactly! Bust out some heels and bam! Legs for days!
I'm not now! I own this dress and a pink ombre maxi skirt that will be on the blog soon!
I love it! You look great! I felt the same way about maxi dresses until last summer, when I bought my 1st maxi dress from JCrew and I've been hooked ever since.

Thanks Carissa! If it weren't for blogs I never would have tried one out.
1) Your blog's new look is AWESOME. I love that the sides/background is like the fence in your header. 2) I love that maxi look. It's so cute! I feel like I can't do maxis but for the opposite reason- I feel like it would look ridiculous because I'm so tall. Like- think of how much fabric you would need. I would feel like I was wearing a curtain. In any case...maybe I'll try one...
You should! It would show off your long legs!
I love maxi dresses because I think they can make you look so tall! Looking at those photos and i swear I would say you wear 5'7" or 5'8"! Love it!
That's what I thought too1 It makes that long, column silhouette. Elongates and slims lol.
Thank you Rebecca! I love it. I love that its a basic one and I can dress it up and down!
Thanks Lauren! I've been wearing it non-stop on my days off.
I love maxi dresses, but hardly own any because they're rarely long enough (and I'm quite average height 5'6")...and I totally disagree with anyone who says maxis aren't for shorter people!! They're awesome for elongating a person because they don't "cut off" the body anywhere!
You look fabulous :)
Mine was a good 6 inches too long. I actually found petite length maxi's at Old Navy but I liked this one so much. I just hemmed it! You should try there I'm sure they have long enough ones for you!
God Damn! That is one hot dress. I am so in love with maxis and still looking for 'that' maxi dress. If you don't mind, what sort of bra would you wear with this? I am a bit big chested, so I do not like strapless ones, they just don't provide any support to me.
Thank you! I have a super good strapless from Victoria's Secret called the Bombshell. There are other ones that have the convertible straps that I can criss cross around my neck just like then straps on the dress.
